The Mad Music Asylum Adds New Sunday Night Program

December 21 19:51 2020

The Mad Music Asylum, a popular internet radio station since 2014 will add a new Sunday night program starting January 3, 2021. The new show is called “In Concert” and will feature some of the greatest live performances of the past 50 years of rock and roll.

Station Manager Rob Penland said, “Everyone has been stuck indoors for the better part of a year and music venues have been shuttered, many of them for good and I believe people have missed live music. Certainly this is not meant as a replacement for live concerts but maybe this show can connect people to the magic of live events.”

The concerts will be presented uncut and the recordings are taken from some of the best live albums of the past 50 years. Many times, however, the album doesn’t present the entire concert and “We have attempted to include those missing tracks through painstaking research and our ability to acquire the missing parts of a concert,” Penland went on to say.

To whet the appetite and to provide a preview, The Mad Music Asylum will air a New Year’s Eve concert from The Band that was recorded on New Year’s Eve of 1971 at New York’s Academy of Music when they were joined for the encore by their former boss, Bob Dylan for four tunes. That concert will begin at 9 pm eastern and runs about 2 hours. Then on Sunday night January 3rd at 8 pm eastern time, the station will air Nirvana’s unplugged concert from November 18, 1993 at Sony Music Studios in New York City.

Future shows will feature The Allman Brothers, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Neil Young, Warren Zevon, 10,000 Maniacs and Adele among others. The “In Concert” show will air every Sunday night at 8 pm eastern with a different concert. Listeners can tune in at the website www.themadmusicasylum.com or the station can be found on the TuneIn app and the MyTuner radio app. You can follow The Mad Music Asylum on Twitter and Facebook @MadMusicAsylum to get information about upcoming shows.
