US Planter Firm Sales Soar as More People Seek Office Comfort

Skokie, Illinois, USA – December 22, 2020 – Pandemic measures that have forced people to work from home and then reluctantly return to the office have sparked surging interest in more comfortable workspaces. This includes dotting potted plants around the office, according to a leading American plant provider.

Workers are seeking solace in their offices, as well as home-working environments. Among the best ways to achieve it is to have several real-life plants around them, says Illinois-based Pots, Planters & More, which supplies potted plants to corporate and private clients across the US and has seen sales skyrocket this year.

“We’ve seen a huge surge in the number of pots and planters being sold this year as a direct result of people spending more time at home and working from home offices,” said the company’s owner, Jason Wyrwicz.

“People want to add a touch of nature to their home to brighten up the space, feel more comfortable, and work more productively. Our range of indoor planters has been in huge demand over the last nine months, and it looks set to continue into 2021,” he said.

Home offices have been set up all over the country, with a need for comfort and pleasant decor. Plants are an obvious choice for a home office, adding a touch of nature, and they are proven to have a positive effect on mental health, boosting workers’ wellbeing and even making them more productive.

Studies show that office workers’ lives can be enriched by placing plants around their workstations, lifting their mood and increasing happiness among teams. According to a study published by the Journal of Experimental Psychology, offices enriched by plant life enhanced air quality, concentration, and workplace satisfaction.

Adding plants to the home office is a quick way to add a touch of nature to the work environment, which has increased the sale of both plants and planters during the turbulent time spent living with the pandemic.

As employees return to work, they are likely to demand changes as they have sampled a flexible working life, often surrounded by plants in the comfort of their home.

One study found that 4.700 employees found that over half of them never want to go back to the old way of working. This means employers will need to adapt their offices and methods of working to accommodate their employee’s newfound desire for flexible work and comfortable spaces.

Introducing plants could be one step to adding more comfort. According to lead researcher Marlon Nieuwenhuis, from Cardiff University’s School of Psychology adding plants to the office “identifies a pathway to a more enjoyable, more comfortable, and a more profitable form of office-based working.”
