Evansville, IN – March 9, 2023 – Today the local Papa John’s pizza franchise announced that the Papa John’s Foundation For Building Community has awarded $50,000 in grants to five different nonprofit organizations in the Tri-State to support their work to strengthen our local community.

“The Papa John’s Foundation for Building Community recognizing the work and service provided by these organizations is simply awesome!”, said Scott Alpers, Operating Partner Papa John’s Pizza. “The values of these organizations align similarly with our franchise under the guise of ‘serving others’ and ‘everyone belongs’, and we are so humbled and grateful for the monies granted to help these groups continue their missions of developing tomorrow’s leaders,” he added.

Organizations in the Tri-State area receiving five of the $10,000 grants from The Papa John’s Foundation for Building Community include the Junior Achievement of Western KentuckyJunior Achievement of Southwestern IndianaYouth Resources of Southwestern IndianaBoys & Girls Club of Evansville, and The United Way of Southern Indiana.

“Youth Resources of Southwestern Indiana is a non-profit organization, and our mission after 33 years is the same and that’s getting young people engaged in the community through service and helping them develop their leadership skills. We are so thankful for the generosity of givers like the Papa John’s Foundation. We invest that philanthropy right back into these kids for them to thrive,” said Laura Ferguson, Executive Director Youth Resources of Southwestern Indiana.

In more than 90 communities across the United States, The Papa John’s Foundation for Building Community has awarded nearly $1.6 million to more than 175 organizations whose work supports the Foundation’s focus areas – youth leadership and entrepreneurship, food security and food waste reduction. Earlier this year, KGK Enterprises, the local Papa John’s franchise, joined other Papa John’s franchisees in applying for grants to support the work of these organizations in their respective communities.

“These grants from The Papa John’s Foundation for Building Community are our latest effort to deliver on three of our company’s core values – People First, Do the Right Thing and Everyone Belongs,” said Rob Lynch, president, and CEO of Papa Johns. “The work of organizations that build and empower the next generation of leaders, fight hunger, and reduce food waste is critical to our world’s future. We are proud to partner with franchise owners such as Scott Alpers to support our shared goals of building healthier, stronger communities and creating new opportunities for the people who live in them.”

On Wednesday, March 15, 10am-11am in the atrium of the Old National Bank, 1 Main Street, Evansville, the local Papa John’s franchise and Evansville Co-Op Agency will formally present the grants to the organizations. Media are invited to attend the event for interviews and coverage.
