March 09 13:29 2023

The nearly 2,000 volunteers working at Hangzhou Asian Games V-Stations received a new English guidebook on March 5, which will help them to provide better English services during the Games.

They received the guidebook two days ahead of the 200-day countdown to the Hangzhou Asian Games. The day also commemorated Lei Feng, a selfless Chinese soldier who devoted his life to helping others.

The manual includes eight chapters and 100 English conservations, including scenarios related to city volunteering, Hangzhou’s unique characteristics, and Asian Games culture. For example, there are sections on how to deal with emergency situations in English related to medicine, minor injury treatment, heatstroke treatment, sprain treatment, and patient comfort.

In addition to the eight chapters, the manual also includes bilingual content such as the 10 most-renowned scenic spots at West Lake, other Hangzhou cultural elements, and Hangzhou Asian Games sporting venues.

According to Fu Jing, director of the Asian Games V-Stations, the volunteer service stations have been set up in key areas such as Hangzhou Asian (Para) Games venues, important transportation hubs, scenic spots, cultural venues and museums, medical institutions, squares, and commercial blocks.

Over 400 such stations are expected to be put into service during the events.
