Aguilar Capital has launched the Future Leaders Initiative, committing 5% of net profits, with a guaranteed minimum of CHF 1 million, to support education in Africa and Asia. The initiative will fund primary, secondary, and higher education opportunities, including university scholarships.

Zurich, Switzerland – Aguilar Capital (https://aguilarcapital.ch/) has announced the launch of The Future Leaders Initiative, a long-term initiative dedicated to expanding educational opportunities for disadvantaged students across Africa and Asia.

Under the initiative, Aguilar Capital will allocate 5% of its net profits generated between 1 July 2026 and 30 June 2027 towards educational development. The firm expects the contribution to total between CHF 1.0 million and CHF 1.5 million. Should the calculated allocation fall below CHF 1 million, Aguilar Capital’s directors have committed to funding the difference to ensure a minimum contribution of CHF 1 million.

The Initiative has been designed to support students at multiple stages of their educational journey. Twenty percent of annual funding will be directed towards primary education initiatives, forty percent towards secondary education programmes and the remaining forty percent towards higher education opportunities for academically qualified students from lower-income backgrounds.

Primary and secondary education funding will be delivered through carefully selected charitable partners operating within local communities. Higher education support will be provided directly by the Initiative and is expected to fund between seven and ten university placements annually. In addition to tuition fees, the initiative will provide practical support including accommodation assistance, transportation and living-cost subsidies to help ensure students are able to complete their studies successfully.

The first university placements are expected to commence in August 2027.

The initiative was spearheaded by Alain Ledermann, Senior Portfolio Manager at Aguilar Capital, following time spent in Mali and Senegal where he witnessed first-hand both the challenges and transformative potential associated with access to education.

“We believe the future of the whole world depends on every person having equal access to education, regardless of the circumstances of their birth,” said Alain Ledermann. “By helping to provide education to those who might not otherwise have access to it, we hope to strengthen not only individual lives, but also the communities and nations in which those individuals live, creating positive effects that extend far beyond the classroom.”

Ledermann added: “In the words of Nelson Mandela, ‘Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.’ We firmly believe that investing in education is one of the most meaningful investments that can be made in humanity’s future.”

While the university scholarship programme will support a select group of students each year, the Initiative expects its primary and secondary education initiatives to benefit hundreds of students annually through partnerships with educational charities and community organisations.

The Future Leaders Initiative reflects the firm’s broader belief that long-term business success carries a responsibility to contribute positively to society. By supporting educational access and achievement, Aguilar Capital aims to help develop future professionals, entrepreneurs, educators and community leaders whose contributions may create lasting benefits for generations to come.

The Initiative will publish annual reports detailing funds allocated, programme activities and educational outcomes achieved through its initiatives.
