LECOM Sustains 99.4%–100% Residency Match Rate for Eight Consecutive Years

Erie, PA – June 29, 2026 – Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM), the nation’s largest medical college, has sustained a 99.4% – 100% residency match rate for eight consecutive years, exceeding national Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) averages, reinforcing the strength of its medical education model.

Founded in 1992, LECOM has graduated more than 18,000 healthcare professionals and continues to prepare students for residency placement across a wide range of specialties. LECOM students have matched at leading programs, including Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, Brown, and Yale, with placements spanning family medicine, internal medicine, dermatology, ophthalmology, neurosurgery, and other surgical specialties. LECOM Bradenton was also ranked No. 2 among 45 osteopathic medical programs.

“LECOM’s match results demonstrate what happens when academic preparation, clinical exposure, and mentorship are aligned from the beginning. These outcomes show the strength of our model and the type of physicians we work to develop — graduates trained with the knowledge, resilience, discipline, humility, honesty, and compassion needed to contribute meaningfully from day one of residency and care for patients across every community setting,” said Adam Ladaika, Institutional Director of Communications and Marketing.

The sustained performance reflects LECOM’s focus on early mentorship, different learning pathways, audition rotations, and osteopathic whole-physician training. These elements help students build clinical reasoning skills, explore specialty pathways, strengthen residency applications, and demonstrate readiness in real clinical environments.

LECOM’s institutional performance further supports its national standing. In the US News & World Report Best Graduate Schools 2026 rankings, drawn from 170 accredited US medical schools, LECOM ranked 23rd nationally for Most Graduates Practicing in Primary Care, 23rd for Most Graduates Serving Rural Areas, and 85th for Most Graduates Practicing in Medically Needy Areas.

The institution also reached a research milestone this year, with 340 research projects submitted in a single year, supported by more than 1,100 student researchers, over 100 faculty mentors, and more than 60 faculty judges. Since 2016, LECOM has recorded 1,965 total Research Day projects, reflecting continued student and faculty engagement in scholarly activity.

LECOM operates campuses in Erie and Greensburg, Pennsylvania, Jacksonville and Bradenton, Florida, and Elmira, New York.
