Organization highlights historic Kukkiwon promotion, community impact, and ongoing commitment to athlete development

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO, CANADA – Champions Martial Arts today announced a series of milestones that reflect its continued growth and contribution to Taekwondo in Canada. Among the highlights are the promotion of Grand Master Zaha Talhouni to Kukkiwon 8th Dan, the publication of Grand Master Samer Kamal’s leadership book, and the organization’s continued expansion of its athlete development and community programs across Ontario.

Founded and led by Olympic Bronze Medalist and Kukkiwon 9th Dan Grand Master Samer Kamal, Champions Martial Arts has spent more than 35 years providing Taekwondo instruction while emphasizing discipline, respect, perseverance, integrity, and leadership. Today, the organization operates six locations across Ontario, serves more than 500 active members, and has trained over 4,000 students since its establishment in Canada.

One of the organization’s most significant achievements in 2026 was the promotion of Grand Master Zaha Talhouni to Kukkiwon 8th Dan. The achievement makes her the youngest 8th Dan in Canada, the Middle East, and the Arab world, marking an important milestone in her martial arts career and reflecting years of dedication to technical excellence, leadership, and instructor development.

The leadership team also expanded its educational efforts through the publication of Grand Master Samer Kamal’s book, The Grand Master – Inspiring Generations. The book shares lessons from his career as an Olympic medalist, educator, mentor, and martial arts instructor, offering insights into leadership, perseverance, and personal development through Taekwondo.

Over the years, Champions Martial Arts has continued to grow both its programs and competitive presence. Students participate in more than 10 provincial, national, and international championships annually, while instructors and athletes also attend more than six elite training camps each year. The organization has earned multiple Kukkiwon Top Ranked School recognitions and is supported by a team of certified Kukkiwon Masters, International Referees, and nationally certified coaches.

Beyond competition, the organization focuses on helping children, youth, and adults develop confidence, discipline, leadership, and lifelong fitness through structured Taekwondo programs. Its curriculum combines traditional martial arts values with modern coaching methods to support students both inside and outside the training hall.

“These milestones represent the dedication of our instructors, students, and families who have helped build Champions Martial Arts over the years,” said Grand Master Samer Kamal. “The promotion of Grand Master Zaha Talhouni and the continued growth of our programs demonstrate our commitment to developing future leaders through Taekwondo. We remain focused on creating opportunities for students of all ages to achieve their personal and athletic goals.”

Looking ahead, Champions Martial Arts plans to continue expanding instructor education, athlete development opportunities, and community outreach initiatives while strengthening its participation in national and international Taekwondo events. The organization remains committed to providing high-quality instruction and supporting the continued growth of Taekwondo throughout Canada.
