‘United Virtualities’ Pivots To Focus On Commerce Cloud

December 18 22:39 2019

United Virtualities (UV), the New York based boutique software development firm, has recently pivoted over the last year to focus primarily on Salesforce Commerce Cloud and Adobe Experience Manager. United Virtualities’ CEO, Erik Laurenceau, today discusses why UV has made that shift.

Team: Why has United Virtualities decided to pivot to focus on Salesforce Commerce Cloud?

Erik Laurenceau: Our focus on Salesforce Commerce Cloud is largely the outgrowth of three factors. Because we’ve focused for the last years on eCommerce development, we’ve worked with a variety of ecommerce platforms, from Shopify to Magento extensively. But we’ve done a series of high-profile and important projects in Salesforce Commerce Cloud, which led us to really develop our expertise in it. And we’ve been growing fast: our SFCC team has grown by nearly 50 people in the last 60 days, and we have no plans to slow this down.

Team: That’s great. What sort of high-profile projects have you built using Salesforce Commerce Cloud?

Erik Laurenceau: The most recent is Godiva, which we just launched in time for the holiday shopping season. It was a complete web-site make-over and intense work, with many unique and custom requirements — and we’re proud that we executed it excellently in only four months, start to finish. We also are in the final process of a few others that we’ll be excited to announce shortly.

Team: Congrats. You said there were two other reasons why you’re now focusing on Salesforce Commerce Cloud?

Erik: Yup. The second reason is our recent acquisition of Sawyer Effect. Sawyer Effect was the leading Salesforce Commerce Cloud integration shop, and we’re proud that they’re now part of Team UV.

Team: Fantastic. And what’s the third reason you’re now focusing on Commerce Cloud?

Erik: “Focus, focus, focus.” Rather than be “really good” at a wide variety of technologies, we think it’s always a better strategy to be the best possible in one area of focus. And we really believe in the SFCC platform, and how it has evolved over the past 10 years–which has given us confidence to double-down on it and bet on it going forward.
